Picture on the Web

This morning Kiersten came in and asked me if I had seen her picture on the web last night when I came in from work. I immediately began thinking of how grown up she was and how her generation is going to be so much smarter than my own, and so forth. I told her I had not, so I went over to the computer and starting bringing up the blog because I had thought that Lance had put something on it that I just hadn't seen yet, and Kiersten got mad at me and said, "No, not there- out here" as she opened the front door. I just thought okay... so I went outside and this is what I saw.

Her picture on the web.

Man I am a geek.

October Roses

Here is the "after"picture. I really wish I had taken a "before" picture because tonight we were playing outside and I noticed that we still had three really pretty pink roses. I was so excited to have roses in October...that has never happened for me. I was so excited in fact, that I got the scissors and cut them to make a small rose arrangement for the dining room table. I put them proudly on the table and went to go talk to Lance (who was in our room) for a minute. When I came back out just a quick second later, Luke handed me one of the now not so beautiful stems. He also had shoved all the left-over petals back into the vase to hide the evidence! I looked at him and he looked at me and then he gasped and then started to tattle to his dad about what his version of the story was. So not only were my beautiful October roses now destroyed, but I was the one who was being blamed by the two-year-old!

Kids...ya gotta love them.

Two Incredible Kids

So today during Luke's nap time, I was trying to keep the older two quiet so that he could sleep. I got the brilliant idea that I should let Mikey & Kiersten try on their costumes in case I needed to fix/hem them. Almost immediately they got into character and Mikey (aka Dash) started running as fast as he could all over the house, Kiersten (aka Violet) pretended to be blowing stuff up, even though her character makes a shield rather that blowing stuff up- but who cares?!

Needless to say I was laughing so hard at theses two goofballs. They were just being too cute to not get their picture to share!

Kiersten loves the gloves- can you tell?

Mikey just seemed to feel instantly powerful.

Kiersten & the fire station

Yesterday Luke and I got the chance to go with Kiersten's preschool to Mapleton's fire station. It was so much fun. First the kids learned all there is to know (for four year-olds) about what to do during and after a fire. Then came something Kiersten is really good at...Dress up!
The fireman let all the kids that wanted to, dress up in his fire gear.
She was so excited!
Then came Luke's favorite part...we got to ride IN the fire truck! We had to split up into two groups, and we were in the second group. We (Luke and I) got to sit in the passenger side of the fire truck. Kiersten and the rest of the girls sat in the back section of the cab. I swear Luke did not even blink once during our 10 minute ride, for fear of missing something. He loved when the fire man turned on the siren, honked the horns, and just about everything...but getting out of the fire truck.
The whole cutie group. It was so much fun!

Birthday #7 for Mikey & the day of the Cake!

Happy Birthday Mikey! We LOVE YOU!Since we are slackers and do not have any of his baby pictures that are digital, this is the earliest one of his life that we have and isn't it cute? Our little prince.

Today was Mikey's 7th birthday and it was a busy day. We planned a short notice party up north with our families, because we heard that Uncle Travis could come play for the Hansen party, and almost all of the Fuhriman side could be there, so we took the chance and spent the day with the ones we love most!

Grandma Hansen spoiled us by making a wonderful baked chicken & the works for lunch, and had even got Mikey a cake to help celebrate his big day.

It was fun to watch the kids blow out the candles and see the smile on Mikey's face for his own cake! Thank you Grandma Hansen!

Uncle Travis came to Grandma's to play and the boys enjoyed rough housing, teasing Uncle Travis, watching Nascar & football on the TV and just being boys.

Then it was off to Grandma & Papa Fuhriman's house. Mikey loved playing with their cat, and enjoyed time with all the cousins & family. We got to have dinner, play some more, have our monthly family home evening, and then it was time to celebrate some more!

Grandma Fuhriman wanted to make each of the October birthdays a cake to celebrate (Uncle Dan, Luke, & Mikey) so each got tailored to their likings. Grandma said we had got to her house just in time so that I could help her decorate the cakes. So I worked on Darth Vader for Mikey...

Luke and his "eehhehh" cake

Uncle Dan & his planes (because he is in pilot school).

Papa had done all the hard work cutting out the cakes, finding the decorations for it, and Grandma made all the cakes and frosting for them all. It was so fun to work on these cakes for these three very special people!

I asked Mikey on our way home what his favorite part of the day was. He giggled and replied that it was just too hard to decide. That is exactly how we wanted it! Happy Birthday Buddy.

Mikey's Birthday Party

Today was Mikey's 7th birthday party with two of his best buds. He wanted a Star Wars party- so that is what he got! Kiersten & Luke gave him this awesome shirt for his birthday and then Mikey, Lance, and the boys went to see "Star Wars: Clone Wars". He came back just raving about how wonderful the movie was! They came back to our house and had pizza & cake, and then played until they just about dropped!
His friends knew him well and both gave him new Star Wars toys!

Here is Mikey and my best attempt at a Yoda cake.
I know it is kind of creepy looking, especially if you keep staring at it long enough, but hey- he loved it!

They all got a chance to blow out the candles- one at a time, and then all together. What a fun afternoon it was! Good times.

Happy Birthday #2 Champ!

It is hard to believe that just two short years ago, I was smiling at my baby Luke for the first time. Now there is hardly an hour that he is awake than we are not smiling because of something he has done. Our sweetie boy

Now he is a bundle of laughs, smiles and full of mischeif! (I wonder where he gets his ideas from???) So today we tried to some of the things he likes to do. When we took Kiersten to school, we stopped to see Daddy at work first, then on the way, we took our time and even pulled over to say hello the "Eeheehee's" (all the horses). We waved hello and good-bye and of course made all the sounds.

I also took him to Wally world to choose his birthday presents. He loves cars, but they always get taken away because they were someone else's...so today he got a few of his own! He has had so much fun with them!
Lukers also loves to "help" daddy with projects around the house, and so today he got his own tool chest with a few tools and nifty goggles to help his daddy.

Since we had so much going on during the day, we took the kids to Mc D's for dinner. They got to play in the brand new play place that had just been installed. They LOVED it! Luke loved when Mikey and Kiersten showed him how to do the big kid things and they played so hard for over an hour!
Then we came home and got to try out the cake that Mom & Dad made. It has fish sprinkles (for his love of Nemo) and candles- that was all he cared about.

Here is the bit when he realizes how much fun it is to blow out the candles. Watch out for the slobber!
Happy Birthday to our BIG boy! We love you!

Kiersten & the Pumpkin Patch

Today was Kiersten's FIRST Preschool field trip. She has been so excited for days since learning she would get to go. They asked if I would be one of the other parents to go, and how could I resist a great opportunity like that! Kiersten- aka "Pumpkin" to her daddy...this one was for you.And of course Luke got to come. He was so excited to play with the big kids and wanted to do whatever Kiersten was doing. He thought Mom was CRAZY for bringing a stroller- there was no way he would be sitting in that today!
Kiersten and her class.
This little area had animals like goats, bunnies, birds of all kinds, and lots of fun places to play!
No big surprise, but Kiersten's favorite part was choosing her pumpkin that she is going to paint in her class on Friday. She was one of the last ones to pick hers, but when she did she was so proud & excited!
