A Whole Lot of "Firsts"

This past Thursday night was Kiersten's first soccer game. It was so funny to see these small kids run up and down the field. The coaches were constantly telling the kids what to do and where to go because the kids had no idea! Kiersten loved being a soccer player and could hardly wait to tell everyone she knew about the game and all the wonderful things she got to learn about. (Thanks Dad for letting her chat your ear off after the game!!!) It was definitely a great "first" for her!

The other "first" for Allie happened yesterday when we got home from running errands. I was putting stuff away when I heard the most adorable laughing coming from the front room (which usually means trouble). I grabbed the camera and saw this...
Luke was graciously sharing his very sticky BLUE sucker with his baby sister. She was hungry and thought this was the BEST thing she had ever eaten! The more she licked the more Luke giggled and the circle just kept going. It was quite funny to see how much that baby girl LOVED that sucker!

Down and Derby

Last night was our troop's Pine wood Derby. Lance and Michael have been working so hard on their derby cars for the past week+. They have been scheming and came up with a lot of fun ideas, but when it came down to it Michael decided to do the Cos-mobile (Cosmo is BYU's Mascot), and Lance did the character from Phineas and Ferb, called Perry the Platypus. For all of those of you who watch the show, you know how awesome this character is. For those of you who do not, it still looks like a very cute platypus with a weird hat.

Michael's first official derby car, weighed in at a whopping 4.9 ounces, just under the limit. Michael did a great job in the derby, but there were a few cars that were just a bit better. But overall he had fun, just felt bad that he didn't win a lot more. No worries there, however, because Lance and Michael were already planning next year's car....

Lance only got to set his car down once during the whole time, which was while they were figuring out the final winner's bracket, and anyone that brought a car could race. The rest of the time, the kids took over and raced it as often as it could go down the track and they would run it up to the starting line again. The other kids would even chant "Perry! Perry!" and when it did not win, Lance would yell "Curse you Perry the Platypus!" (a line from the show). It was a lot of fun. I am just glad that it is over, so my garage can go from Derby Grand Central Station to a parking spot again! Love you boys!

Our Beauty Queen

Last Saturday night, we were lucky enough to go and see Lance's niece compete in the Miss Springville Pageant. It was so fun because we (Kiersten and I) got to go with all of my sister-in-laws and nieces as a Girls' Night Out. It was so fun to cheer on Danyelle and see what a beautiful lady she is. Although she may not have won the official crown that night, we will always think of her as our beauty queen! Thanks for the fun night!

Michael's First Soccer Game

Last night was Michael's very first soccer game! He was so excited! He tried to make us get him ready almost two hours before the game even started, so when we finally made it to the field, he was giddy as can be. Because he was the first one there, he got to play goalie to start out. He did a really great job and his brother and sister loved cheering him on! Although the team may have lost 1-3, Michael did a really good job and never gave up or whined about being tired. He just gave his all and made us all PROUD!

After the game, he got his first jersey! He was ecstatic that he gets to be "Number 1". He was even more excited that there is a BYU emblem on the jersey. Silly boy! We are sure proud of you!

Mikey's New Birdhouse

We were also lucky enough to get to spend some time this past weekend with Grandma & Papa Fuhriman. I had been hoping to send the kids outside to play, but with that YUCKY snow storm, we had to find things to play with inside. Papa decided to help Mikey put together a birdhouse to have a little fun, and it helped with a requirement for Scouts! Hooray for Grandma & Papa's fun ideas. All three kids had to get involved and loved the time they were able to spend with Papa and Grandma. Grandma then saved the day when she helped the kids make "wheat bags" (bean bags filled with wheat) and taught the kids fun games to play with those. We are so lucky we have such wonderful grandparents to have fun with!

Grandma's Surprise

Grandma Hansen says that Saturday nights are usually her most boring nights of the week. I think we helped change that this past weekend. It was a double surprise because I had called to tell her we were coming, so when the knock came at the door and Grandma went to open it, it was Sherae and her family from Colorado who were there instead! Shortly after we arrived and the reunion started! It was so fun to see Sherae & Greg's kids that we had not seen in a very long time, and it was fun to introduce little Allie to them! Luke & Ethan hit it off and began playing like they were life long buddies. We all loved it- especially Grandma who got about fifty extra hugs and kisses that night.

In Loving Memory of Grandpa Rogerson

Lance's Grandpa Rogerson passed away late Monday night. He was one of the most gentle and kind men we have ever known. He was always so patient and sweet. He will be missed dearly. When Lance found out that he had passed away, he wrote this-"For all the loving memories we will always have, thanks Grandpa for always humming and keeping things light."

Allie Soncerae

She is here! Allie Soncerae joined our family a little earlier than we had planned. She was born on February 24, 2010 at 1:14 pm. She weighed in at 8 lbs, and was 20 inches long. Not too shabby for being 10 days early!

We got the news the day before at my doctor's appointment the day before that I needed to get induced because my blood pressure kept getting higher, even on medication. At this point I was so miserable, especially at nights, that there was not one word of complaint from me when the doctor gave me the news! So we made a few calls and my mom came to stay with the kids so that the next morning at 6 am we could get induced and get to hold our dear baby girl. When I was checked into the hospital I was not very far along (dilated) so they started me on Petocin, and broke my water around 9:30 am. Man did that get things moving. Within an hour I was ready for my epidural (although they missed 3 times during some big contractions- still HIGHLY worth it!) and by 1:00 pm, they were setting up for delivery. So after 4 hours of "labor" and 3 pushes it was done. Overall things went well, and at 1:14 pm, our baby girl was here!

Allie Soncerae

Her pretty proud parents

I don't know who was most excited to meet their new sister, but I was giddy to see the kids with their new sister. It was adorable to see their faces as I showed them their new sister. I have to say that is and forever will be one of my favorite memories of this life. Absolutely precious.

Luke & "his" baby Allie. I was glad to see that now he could believe me that every time he jumped on my stomach and I told him there was a baby in there!

Kiersten & Allie- Proud big sister! She is absolutely smitten with her. I hope it lasts!

Michael & Allie. He is so proud of her and is always more than willing to sit and hold her whenever he gets the chance. He is just SO cute with her. I never thought that he could love her this much. I am glad to be wrong.

Favorite family moments

We only stayed our 24 hours in the hospital before I was dying to come home. We were welcomed by 3 anxious kids, Grandma Fuhriman, and a few neighbor kids, too! It was so fun. We are so glad she is here!
